Patricia or Pat Lafreniere is running for re-election in the City of Pembroke. Lafreniere was first elected to Pembroke City in 2002 and has been re-elected for five consecutive terms. She first decided to run for council because her neighbourhood was not on municipal water at the time and was successful to get water down Elgin Street.
When first elected to council, Lafreniere helped get the first skate park up and running in the extra parking lot across from the Pembroke Memorial Centre (PMC).
Recently, Lafreniere says she spearheaded the campaign that saw the Grind relocate to their new facility on Victoria Street adding the reflection of the community is how they treat the vulnerable.
Lafreniere says she doesn’t make false promises and if elected she will be honest, available to people with property concerns and continue working on shared service agreements with neighboring municipalities.
Lafreniere worked in broadcasting for 32-years at the TV station, spent three years as the executive director of the Renfrew County United Way and is currently teaching yoga in Pembroke.
Lafreniere is one of 15 candidates running for city council in Pembroke.
