Brian Abdallah is running to be re-elected to council in Pembroke. Abdallah says municipal politics runs in his family as his father was Mayor in the 1970’s and taught him the value of volunteerism and helping in the community.
Abdallah was first elected to council in 2018 and over the last 4-years has helped launch the Community Watch program, the first community gardens in Pembroke and is also involved with the arboretum project at the Pembroke Waterfront Park.
If re-elected, one thing Abdallah wants to promote and help is work on and complete a public transit pilot project, but only if it’s affordable and funds are available. Abdallah also talked about the need to aggressively target companies to relocate to Pembroke and address affordable housing.
Abdallah says it’s important to get the community members and local residents involved in projects and initiatives.
Abdallah was born and raised in Pembroke and spent a few years teaching overseas before returning to the Ottawa Valley.
Abdallah is one of 15 candidates running for city council in Pembroke.
