Dan Callaghan is running for council in the City of Pembroke. Callaghan previously served on city council from 2006 to 2014. He says he decided to get back into municipal politics because he loves Pembroke and thinks it’s a great place to raise a family.
If elected Callaghan plans to work on getting a new pool for Pembroke.
Culture and recreation are are important for Callahan who says he’s a big supporter of parks, the library, local arenas and Festival Hall.
Callaghan says fiscal responsibility is also important and council has to keep the cost of inflation and local taxpayers in mind.
Callaghan adds climate change should be taken into consideration with city projects to leave a better world for future generations.
The long-time Pembroke resident is one of 15 people running for a seat on council in the October 24th municipal election.
Callaghan is running against Brian Abdallah, Chéla Breckon, Andrew (Andy) Clark, Ed Jacyno, Ian Kuehl, Patricia (Pat) Lafreniere, Jason Laronde, Dorian Pearce, Andrew Plummer, Troy Purcell, Stacy Taylor, Wade Wallace, Karen Walsh and Jane Wood.
