There’s an all-candidates night taking place at Festival Hall in Pembroke. The event will be Thursday, October 13th starting at 6:30pm. myFM reporter and news anchor Rudy Kadlec will be the moderator. YourTV Ottawa Valley will televise the candidates evening in Pembroke. There is no cost to attend the all-candidates evening. Doors will open at Festival Hall in Pembroke starting at 5:45pm. The candidates event is sponsored by Pembroke Mitsubishi, Hyundai Pembroke, Family Auto Rentals and Ottawa Valley Yamaha Motor Sports and Marine.
RULES FOR THE ALL-CANDIDATES EVENING
- Candidates will be arranged in alphabetical order (in the list they appear on the ballot)
- Candidates will have two minutes for an introduction and one minute for closing remarks.
- The moderator will stand to let candidates know they have 15 seconds remaining and a bell will ring/microphones will be cut off at the end of the allotted time.
- Questions will be submitted by residents who attend the night of the event.
- A panel of local media representatives will go through all questions submitted, group them together and submit them to the moderator.
- Each candidate will have 45-seconds to answer the question asked by the moderator.
- All candidates will have the same opportunity to answer each question.
15 CANDAIDATES RUNNING FOR SIX SEATS ON PEMBROKE CITY COUNCIL
There are 15 people running for a seat on Pembroke City Council including; Brian Abdallah, Chéla Breckon, Dan Callaghan, Andrew (Andy) Clark, Ed Jacyno, Ian Kuehl, Patricia (Pat) Lafreniere, Jason Laronde, Dorian Pearce, Andrew Plummer, Troy Purcell, Stacy Taylor, Wade Wallace, Karen Walsh and Jane Wood.
Ron Gervais is running unopposed and has been acclaimed as the next Mayor for the City of Pembroke.
ALL-CANDIDATES EVENT OCTOBER 3rd AT FESTIVAL HALL IN PEMBROKE CANCELLED
The all candidates event hosted by the Pembroke Rotary Club that was supposed to be held on Monday, October 3rd, was cancelled. The Festival Hall Consortium received notice that Festival Hall would be painted at no cost, a $30,000 donation from the Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario, the school board for Equinox in Pembroke. Chair of the Festival Hall Consortium, Murray Rutz, apologized for the inconvenience this decision has caused and thanked Rotary for their ongoing support of Festival Hall.
