The Pembroke Fire Department is hosting an open house event this weekend. Fire Chief Scott Selle says the theme this year for fire prevention week is “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.”
The Pembroke Fire Chief says today’s homes are burning faster than ever before. Selle says have less than two minutes to safely escape your home from the time your smoke alarm goes off.
The Pembroke Fire Department will be holding an Open House event at the Fire Hall on Saturday, October 8th from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
Chief Selle says it’s an opportunity to meet with firefighters, tour the fire hall and see some demonstrations.
Fire Prevention Week runs from October 9th to 15th.
The Pembroke Fire Department is teaming up with Co-operators, CanOps, and the National Fire Protection Association® (NFPA®) to promote this year’s Fire Prevention Week™ campaign, “Fire Won’t Wait. Plan Your Escape.™”
The Pembroke Fire Department and local Co-operators advisor, Perri-Rae Boell encourage all residents to actively support this year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign by developing and practicing a home escape plan with all members of their household.
Co-operators has donated a Fire Prevention Week kit to the fire department; the kit includes activities and information for children and adults, providing age-appropriate messages about home fire safety and prevention.
Next week, the Pembroke Fire Department will be at the West End Plaza on Tuesday, Giant Tiger on Wednesday, the Pembroke Mall on Thursday, the Pembroke Public Library on Saturday and on Sunday local firefighters will join Pembroke Mayor Mike LeMay for a ceremonial puck drop at the Pembroke Lumber Kings game.
