The legion in Petawawa is ready for Remembrance Day. On Wednesday night (November 9th), the Petawawa Legion Branch 517 held a dinner and candlelight vigil at the cenotaph.
President Ralph Kendrick says they are looking forward to welcoming crowds of people out on Friday, November 11th. Kendrick says the ceremony will start about 10-minutes before 11:00am and last about an hour.
After a gun salute, the two minutes of silence and the wreath laying, those in attendance are invited into the Legion to socialize.
Kendrick says a young lady in Petawawa made a quilt and sold tickets with proceeds raised going to be donated back to the legion.
Last year, roughly 1,000 people attended the Remembrance Day ceremonies in Petawawa.
