The SPCA, Humane Society, and the Ontario Association of Fire Chiefs came together to talk about the ever-increasing importance of saving pets in the event of an emergency for Emergency Preparedness Week.
Pembroke’s own SPCA branch and the Pembroke Fire Department are here to help! Emergency door decals are available to put on your doors and windows so emergency service workers can better protect your fuzzy loved ones.
You can help too with a few simple tips:
Put together an emergency preparedness kit that had every you, your family, and your pets will need to keep you covered for the first 72 hours of the emergency.
Have an evacuation plan and practice it and be sure that the location is pet friendly.
Make sure cats or dogs have collars with clear ID tags that include your phone number, microchipping them also helps to be reunited with them in the event of an emergency.
Keep a photo of your pet on you, make sure it includes their name, address and brief descriptor.
