A lesser known, but extremely fun sport has been growing in popularity, and in the Valley, it’s growing fast!
Paul Johns of the Petawawa Tennis/Pickleball club came before council to discuss the options for making the play and organization of the sport more accessible for the year-round game.
There has been some wear and tear damage to the courts at the Petawawa Civic Centre, but with Pickleball picking up massive growth across the Ottawa Valley, the damage will need to be repaired and fresh lines painted, but that’s the most cost seen to build on the interest.
The councilors were also showing interest, with a cautious optimism for it finding a place within the budget, but as a moderation of expectations, this may not be a change that fully evolves until 2024.
