An investigation is ongoing as police in Deep River look into a suspected drowning over the weekend.
Officers with the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP were told of an empty boat circling the Ottawa River just west of the town in the late morning on Friday, July 28th.
The detachment and the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit would then locate the 66-year-old boat operator along the water the next day.
Ontario’s Chief Coroner has called for a postmortem examination into the death.
It’s one of two drownings in the Ottawa Valley over the weekend, as Killaloe OPP are also looking into the death of an 18-year-old from Madawaska Valley who was found unresponsive along Dam Lake.
