Petawawa Mayor Gary Serviss presented to the council, a request from the Pembroke Symphony Orchestra for a letter of support for their New Horizons for Seniors program grant application.
Counsellor Murray Rutz voiced his strong support, emphasizing the orchestra’s role in organizing fundraising events at the Festival Hall, creating opportunities for youth and seniors in live theater productions.
Deputy Mayor Theresa Sabourin also endorsed the request, emphasizing the orchestra’s positive impact on seniors’ socialization and mental well-being.
Counsellor James Carmody expressed support, noting the orchestra’s significance in the community and the attendance of many Petawawa residents at their concerts.
The New Horizons for Seniors program grant could net PSO up to $25,000 as a community based program.
