Brenda Long, Manager of the Sunshine Gift Shop at Pembroke Regional Hospital, recently shared details about the upcoming fashion show, a successful annual event organized by the hospital’s auxiliary. Brenda spoke in greater detail with the myFM newsroom:
The fashion show is scheduled for September 29th at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the show starts at 7:00 PM, concluding around 8:30 PM.
Attendees will be treated to desserts, tea, and coffee upon arrival, with entertainment provided by volunteer Peter Boxer. Tickets are available at the gift shop or at the door for $20, and reservations can be made by calling the hospital’s gift shop.
Long also explained how the fashion show tradition began as a means to raise funds for the hospital. The event started at the Carefor Marguerite Center, with clothing racks transported across the road for sale. With the center’s relocation, Our Lady of Lourdes Church generously offered its venue for free.
The auxiliary’s contributions extend beyond the fashion show. Since 2010, they have donated $2.8 million to the hospital, funded television purchases, and supported various hospital needs. The auxiliary, consisting of 57 volunteers, is dedicated to aiding the community and has adapted to challenges, such as providing free televisions during COVID-19 restrictions. Their commitment to fundraising for essential hospital projects remains unwavering.
