The 6th annual Guatemalan Open Golf Tournament happening at Whitetail Golf Club in Eganville is only one swing away.
Happening on June 22, the proceeds from this tournament will go towards supporting From Houses to Homes Canada. In May 2019, From Houses to Homes Canada Limited became a Registered Charity in Canada.
Jeannelle Romain, Co-founder for the charity tells myFM about the tournament and what is new this year.
The Primary purpose of the corporation is to build small basic houses for impoverished indigenous Guatemalan families, houses that become the homes they never dreamed they could have. From Houses to Homes Canada also relieves poverty and advances education by providing school supplies and materials for their children. Romain tells myFM how much was raised in recent years.
The first Canadian donated home was built in 2019 by Howard and Jeannelle, along with the help of some regular builders from the Dream Team, a group of regular volunteers from the Ottawa valley. Howard Winters Co-founder for the charity explains why this year is special.
Romain noted that attendees will have the chance to meet the Director from Guatemala.
Participants are encouraged to register ahead of the event. For more information, visit the From Houses to Homes website at From House To Homes Canada (fromhousestohomescanada.ca)
