Local police say three people have been held for bail following a “high-risk traffic stop” along Highway 417 in Arnprior.
On Saturday afternoon, Renfrew OPP was alerted to a vehicle travelling on Highway 17 eastbound from Pembroke that they believed to have a loaded firearm inside.
Police from both the Pembroke and Renfrew detachments would seize the firearm, as well as drugs and drug trafficking paraphernalia, before arresting and charging the three in the car.
Elijah Desmond ADAN, 23 years old from Ottawa was charged with:
- Breach of firearms regulation- transport firearm or restricted weapon
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
- Adult possession of a schedule I substance – opioid (other than heroin)
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order, two counts
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000- in Canada
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Adult possession weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine
- Fail to comply with probation order, six counts
- Trafficking schedule I substance- cocaine
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
Marie Ebony BARNABE, 27 years old of Ottawa was charged with:
- Breach of firearms regulation- transport firearm or restricted weapon
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000- in Canada
- Possession of loaded prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, two counts
- Trafficking schedule I substance- cocaine
Brandon Kennedy Earl PARENT, 23 years old of Kanata was charged with:
- Breach of firearms regulation- transport firearm or restricted weapon
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
- Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
- Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
