Beachburg’s resident speedster had to overcome a little drama and a lot of rain during his most recent race on home turf.
Nathan Blok’s Futec Motorsports team returned to Calabogie Motorsports Park for the recent CMP Summer Classic, where his Nissan 370z struggled mightily under heavy rain that marred the opening race.
Two minutes into the race, the windshield began fogging up so bad that Nathan had to wipe the windshield from the inside at 180 km/hr just to see where he was going. After a long and difficult race, he would finish in 6th.
Blok would benefit from slightly drier conditions the following morning, ultimately finishing in 6th after a long battle with rival Shelby Mills.
The skies would clear in time for the final race of the weekend, and Blok would take advantage, leading the pack at times before another storm cell would roll through the area, bringing out a full-course yellow flag. Blok would lose out on two spots after the restart, but was able to carve out a 3rd place finish to close out the weekend.
“As soon as I saw the forecast, I knew it would be a weekend of damage limitations as far as the championship was concerned,” Blok said after the race. “I did not expect a podium finish this weekend, and we took a gamble on a dry setup in the final race to get to the front then defend until the end, which fortunately paid off.”
Blok currently sits in 4th place in the standings and will be competing at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on August 9–11.
