The Pembroke council chamber was packed during last nights town council meeting due to the discussion about The Grind building being sold or not. After an attempt was made by Mayor Ron Gervais motioning to sell the grind which was turned down. Councilor Troy Purcell motioned for the building not to be sold and for the lease to be terminated.
Mayor Ron Gervais gave a statement regarding the history of the Grind and the lease agreement that was created and how it was contracted to allow them to purchase the building for $210,000.
Councilor Troy Purcell gave his thoughts on this topic and made it clear that he was not happy with how this all came to be.
Deputy Mayor Brian Abdallah stated that The Grind shouldn’t have been located in a neighbourhood so close to schools and a daycare centre.
The motion that the Grind building will not be sold was passed with a vote of five saying yes and two saying no. To watch the town council meeting click here July 16, 2024 – City of Pembroke: Committee & Council Meetings (youtube.com)
