There is no rest in Enterprise Renfrew County’s goal of supporting entrepreneurship in the Ottawa Valley.
Fresh off awarding grants to several local startups during their recent Starter Company Plus program, the non-profit group has announced this year’s group of Summer Company program participants.
The program empowers students aged 15 to 29 to launch their own businesses with the aid of training designed to foster entrepreneurial skills and crucial startup funding.
This year’s participants include:
On-the-Go Car Care by Cayden MacKinnon from Renfrew, offering auto detailing;
BlueBird Company by Haley Vanderzwaag from Westmeath, offering subscription care packages;
Unicorn Kitty Balloons by Katie White from McNab/Braeside providing event balloon animals;
Ottawa Valley Grill Doctor by Kyle Radford from Eganville, offering mobile BBQ cleaning;
“I’ve Got Your Back” Babysitting Services by Scarlytte Merrill from Deep River, offering mobile babysitting services;
Ki’s Creations by artist Ki Myra from Pembroke; and
SportsHub by Isa Jilani O’Brien from Barry’s Bay, offering large lawn game rentals.
Each of the seven students will get $1,500 to launch their own small businesses once training wraps up and are in line for up to another $1,500 based on the business’ summer performance.
The community will get the chance to meet with the participants during a celebration at the Pembroke BIA’s Youth Market on August 29th inside Pembroke’s Shamrock Park.
