The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a series of criminal mischief incidents that have disrupted phone and internet services in the City of Pembroke.
On August 8, 2024, police began probing multiple reports from businesses and residents who discovered their phone and internet cables had been deliberately cut, leading to widespread communication outages. The vandalism occurred at various locations, including Pembroke Street West, Victoria Street, MacKay Street, and McAllister Street.
Police have identified a suspect, and charges are expected to be filed soon.
Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are urging anyone who has experienced recent damage to their communication lines to report it to the UOV OPP by calling 1-888-310-1122, if they haven’t already done so.
Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
