Two individuals are facing multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop conducted by the OPP in Pembroke.
On the afternoon of August 15, members of the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), supported by patrol officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment, stopped a vehicle on Pembroke Street West. During the stop, police seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, along with packaging materials, cash, and cell phones. Both occupants of the vehicle were arrested without incident.
The individuals charged are 27-year-old Emrah Ahmeti of Ottawa and 44-year-old Jaclyn Shaffer of Killaloe, Hagarty, and Richards Township. Both have been charged with trafficking a Schedule I substance (fentanyl), possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl), and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000. Additionally, Shaffer faces an extra charge of failing to comply with a probation order.
Ahmeti was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 23, 2024. Shaffer was also held for a bail hearing but was released and is set to appear in court on September 17, 2024.
