A new midway provider, plenty of yummy treats and the tried-and-true agricultural shows will all be on offer Aug. 23-25 at the 165th Cobden Fair
Megan Lariviere, President of the Cobden Agricultural Society, says the weather forecast is looking fine and there will be plenty of fun activities for fair goers of all ages.
Cope Amusements will be providing the midway, which will be more geared towards younger children, and the Skills Ontario – Trades and Tech Truck is another exciting addition.
“We also have the mechanical bull, we have mini putt and we have all of our agricultural shows – our sheep show, our beef show, dairy show, horse show, horse pull on Friday evening – and lots of entertainment on the outdoor stage,” said Lariviere. “We also have a family-friendly dance in the ag hall on Friday evening and the demolition derby on Saturday evening, which is always a great hit.”
They’re hoping the forecasted seasonable temperatures and range of attractions draws good crowds to the fair.
“Come, bring your appetite, bring your family and friends, have fun, we love to have families coming and enjoying the last hurrah before the end of the summer and hopefully everybody can come and just enjoy themselves,” said Lariviere.
She said the ag society is grateful to all those who come together to make the fair happen.
“I want to give a huge shout out to all of our sponsors – the big ones, the small ones – and all of our volunteers that spend so much time helping us out.,” she said.
Admission costs $20 per person, which includes all midway rides. The pay-one-price is a welcome feature for some families when it comes to planning, said Lariviere.
Fair goers are asked to please try and leave pets at home, unless it’s absolutely necessary, because of the agricultural animals that are on-site.
There is free parking next to the grounds and street parking available also.
