The countdown is on for kids to go back to school – but also the timer is ticking away for parents who will have to start packing lunches yet again.
We spoke to a Public Health Dietitian Jessica Durham about how important those lunches are to get your kids through the day and what should be packed.
Durham went one step further providing an example of what that lunch might look like.
She said one thing that is important is getting kids involved in lunch packing.
While packing a lunch full of healthy options is ideal, if your child won’t eat them, it is just going to sit there untouched.
For those younger kids as well, this is a good time to make sure they are ready for the lunch routine.
Finally, having a healthy lunch is great, but for the best success at school try to send them off with a full belly.
Durham said it’s also important that you check with your school to see what food items are not allowed due to food allergies.
