A Petawawa resident is facing charges following an impaired driving investigation by the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment.
On the evening of September 22, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., UOV OPP officers responded to a report of a possibly impaired driver on a motor-assisted bike in Petawawa. The driver was stopped on Victoria Street, where a Roadside Screening Device was used. The individual was then taken to the detachment for further testing.
As a result, 48-year-old Rene Ruel has been charged with operation while impaired, with a blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. His driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and his motor-assisted bicycle was impounded for seven days.
Ruel is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on October 29, 2024.
