It’s not something you expect to see outside your local hospital every day.
A 15-foot-tall trojan horse will tour through Renfrew County on October 28th, stopping outside Renfrew Victoria Hospital, Pembroke Regional Hospital, and Mattawa Hospital as part of a protest by the Ontario Health Coalition and CUPE’s Ontario Council of Hospital Unions, demanding the province stop taking funds out of public hospitals for for-profit clinics.
Both groups say the statue, which has made its way across the province since appearing outside Queen’s Park on October 4th, represents what they call a false claim by the Ford government that privatizing surgeries will reduce wait times.
Valley residents will get a second chance to see the demonstration and the trojan horse on November 5th, when it makes stops outside the Almonte General Hospital, Arnprior Regional Health, and Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital.
