The County of Renfrew’s paramedics are making the case that everyone should keep one specific item on hand.
As the Renfrew County and District Health Unit deals with an increase in overdoses and suspected overdose-related deaths across the region, local paramedics are suggesting people carry a naloxone kit on their person or in their car.
One of those paramedics, 15-year veteran Joe Hamilton, makes the case for the RCDHU in an online statement.
Hamilton points to a recent off-duty incident where he discovered someone going through an overdose as a good example of how effective naloxone is.
Naloxone kits are free can be found at a number of pharmacies in the Ottawa Valley, as well as from your local RCDHU office. Communities can find the closest site to them online.
