The Renfrew Detachment has charged a 52-year-old driver from Vermont, USA, with impaired driving following an incident on October 17.
Around 5:00 a.m., OPP received reports of a truck stuck in a drive-thru in Cobden. The vehicle had flat tires and displayed a Vermont license plate. When police arrived, they found the driver confused and unaware of their location, mistakenly believing they were still in the United States.
Upon investigation, officers discovered that the driver had failed to stop at the border, providing grounds for arrest. As a result, Roger Church of Milton, Vermont, was charged with:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
Church was held for a bail hearing. OPP reminds the public to never drive while impaired to ensure everyone’s safety on the road.
