The Town of Petawawa is excited to announce that the Container Market has been selected for the My Main Street Community Activator program. This support will help expand the market and provide diverse programming in 2024.
In May the town opened two new 7’ x 7’ container units at the Container Market. These units offer temporary storefronts for entrepreneurs, enhancing local business exposure. Visitors enjoyed activities like yoga in the park and live music under a new gazebo, also funded by My Main Street, making the market experience more vibrant.
The Petawawa Container Market is a unique market featuring independent shipping containers as storefronts. The market operates from May to mid-October, with vendors open on Fridays from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The market hosts various themed events throughout the year, including the Cultural Connection Market in June, Christmas in July, a Youth Entrepreneur Market in August, the Fall Harvest Market during the Petawawa Ramble, and the Holiday Tailgate Market in December. Located at 16 Civic Centre Road, more information is available on the municipal website.
My Main Street aims to support community economic development and create vibrant neighborhoods. Delivered by the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI) and backed by a Government of Canada investment through the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), the program enhances the quality of life for residents and promotes inclusive development.
