Officials from Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) are notifying the public that if they hear sirens coming from the Chalk River site this Thursday, they needn’t be alarmed.
“As a part of the annual Site Stay-In Exercise, Chalk River Laboratories will sound the site Stay-In Siren on: Thursday, Oct. 31 at 9 a.m. until 10 a.m.,” reads a CNL notice. “Although the site sirens may be audible, no action is required on your part.”
The company says this exercise is part of its commitment to safety, and testing of site emergency procedures is an important component of operational practices.
