On October 19, the Pembroke Regional Hospital Foundation hosted its 19th Black and White Gala, raising an impressive $320,299 to support the hospital’s highest-priority equipment needs. This year’s event saw sponsors, attendees, and volunteers come together to raise $15,000 on the spot for a newborn resuscitaire, a vital piece of equipment used to save baby Brin. The funds were matched by the Jason Blaine Celebrity Charity Golf Classic, bringing the total to $30,000 for the hospital’s Obstetrics unit.
Leigh Costello Community Fundraising Specialist for PRHF tells myFM how special the night was and how happy she was to see so many community members in attendance.
The Gala featured a lively cocktail hour with music from Soulstice5+ and a four-course meal prepared by Ullrich’s, followed by an exciting auction. Guests enjoyed music and dancing with local band Rainwater Whiskey, while professional photography captured the evening’s highlights.
Costello explains how the hospital relies heavily on community partnership, she was in awe with the funds raised and how the community made it their mission to give back.
Executive Director Roger Martin shared his enthusiasm for the event, noting the community’s commitment to local healthcare. During the evening, $10,000 Gift of Humanity sponsors were recognized, along with a special award for Scotiabank for its long-standing support.
