On Saturday afternoon, around 2:52 p.m., the Pembroke Fire Department received a call about a dryer on fire at a home on Hillside Avenue. The department quickly sent one pumper truck and the duty crew to the scene.
Firefighters acted swiftly to control the flames, managing to keep the fire damage contained to the laundry room. However, significant smoke damage affected much of the house.
Thanks to early detection by smoke alarms, the homeowner was alerted in time and could evacuate safely. The quick response from the fire department also played a crucial role in limiting the damage.
The Red Cross was called in to help the residents who were displaced by the fire.
The Pembroke Fire Department emphasizes the importance of maintaining home appliances and servicing them regularly to prevent such incidents. A total of nine firefighters and two fire trucks responded to this event, showcasing their commitment to community safety.
