What to do when your attempts to secure tickets to the actual Taylor Swift concert don’t pan out? Bring the Taylor Swift concert to you, of course!
That’s exactly what Ottawa Valley mom Darlene Heaslip is doing, as she prepares to host a Taylor Swift Eras Tour party for her daughter Lexi and friends this Saturday, on the closing night of the pop star’s Toronto slate of shows.
Darlene Heaslip says her daughter has been a fan almost all her life.
Lexi is 21, with special needs, similar to a number of her friends, so even if you can get tickets, the actual concert experience might be overwhelming, said Heaslip.
The Heaslips are prepared to go all out. Party goers will be using Monopoly money for their very own concession stand and Darlene’s son will dress for the part and stand at the door checking tickets.
The tv isn’t concert-sized but it’s big enough that they’ll be able to crank the music, said Darlene.
Lexi is over-the-moon excited and her friends can’t wait, either.
Darlene says she really likes Swift’s music and moreover is impressed with the pop star as a role model.
Heaslip said she’s done a lot of reading about Taylor with Lexi and even hearing how the star treats her staff extremely well is impressive.
She wants her daughter and friends to take a page from Taylor Swift’s book and know that it’s ok to stand up for yourself, to be assertive and to expect respect in return for respect given.
