On Wednesday, December 4, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Petawawa Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Sack Road. Firefighters were called to the scene after reports of a blaze in a residential property.
When fire crews arrived, they found a fully involved fire in the attached garage, which had spread to the main structure of the home. Fortunately, all occupants had safely exited the building before emergency services arrived, and there were no reported injuries.
A total of 16 firefighters and five fire trucks were dispatched to control the fire. Thanks to their quick action, the fire was contained, and crews remained on the scene to monitor the situation. Unfortunately, the home has been deemed a total loss.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. In addition to the Petawawa Fire Department, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Garrison Petawawa Fire Department, and Hydro One were also present at the scene to assist.
Residents are urged to stay informed as authorities continue their investigation into the cause of the fire. Fire safety tips and updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
