Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for all areas of Renfrew County with freezing rain and freezing drizzle are possible Monday evening into Tuesday morning.
Possible hazards include freezing rain and freezing drizzle leading to ice build-up on some surfaces.
“A low-pressure system is approaching southern Ontario and will bring a mixture of precipitation to the area. Precipitation is expected to begin as snow with up to five centimetres of snowfall accumulation possible by Monday evening,” reads the alert. “Snow is expected to become mixed with or change to freezing rain Monday evening before tapering to scattered flurries or freezing drizzle Monday overnight.”
As temperatures are expected to remain near the freezing mark there is a potential for freezing drizzle through the overnight hours into Tuesday morning.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. The Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning commutes may be affected.
