The firefighters of Haley Station are ready to put a festive twist on an event that proved to be a fan favourite earlier this year.
Lieutenant Nathan Jahn of the Haley Station Firefighters’ Association invites the community to “A Christmas in Haley’s,” a holiday-themed event for all ages inside the Haley Station Fire Hall this Saturday, December 14th.
He says the event will build on the community’s great response to their Haunted Halloween Hall back in October, featuring a cast who can’t wait to take part.
Families are welcome to drop in from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday to enjoy pictures with Santa, a barbeque lunch and bake sale, an up-close look at their equipment, and a donation table where you can help support both the local food bank and Renfrew County Victim Services, who Jahn says works regularly with the fire department when disaster strikes.
Some of the most requested items people can drop off include comfort blankets, stuffed animals for people of all ages, small colouring books and lead-free crayons, personal toiletry items, small Kleenex packages, and non-perishables.
Of course, they’re willing to give as much as they take to make sure the whole family goes home happy.
Jahn adds that their work with Renfrew County Victim Services is also a show of gratitude to the group’s president, who officiated long-time Station Captain Roy Church’s funeral service earlier this year.
