When thinking about Christmas time do you think about receiving gifts or giving them? The Renfrew County Community Poverty Action Network (CPAN) partnered with Crazy Beautiful Dresses in downtown Pembroke to bring a new type of Christmas shopping to the valley. In the upstairs of Crazy Beautiful Dresses, CPAN had a donation based pop-up shop with all proceeds going back into the community to help youth in the Ottawa Valley.
Chéla Breckon Executive Director for CPAN tells myFM that the Christmas store was suppose to last up until Christmas but was sold out with CPAN being able to raised over $7,000 in ten business days.
Breckon was so happy to see so many community members and businesses support them especially in the holiday months. She explains that there is a major issue that could possible put CPAN in a bad spot come 2025.
This is why CPAN has been putting on more fundraiser events and looking for community partnership including the Night Market provider at the Let It Snow Market at the Knights of Columbus Hall in hopes to be financially okay for the new year.
As the postal strike continues, Breckon explains that it is so important to help youth in our community and make donations online, in person or over the phone.
