The City of Pembroke is excited to continue the Snow Angels initiative this winter, helping residents who need assistance with snow removal. This community-driven program matches volunteers with individuals who have difficulty clearing snow from their driveways and walkways, such as older adults, people with disabilities, those with injuries, or parents with young children.
Mayor Ron Gervais emphasized the importance of the initiative: “Clearing snow can be a barrier for many people. The inability to remove snow can affect someone’s ability to stay active in the community and live independently at home. Our goal is to help remove this barrier for Pembroke residents this winter.”
The Snow Angels program is completely volunteer-based and free for those who need help. Residents can register for assistance or sign up to volunteer through the Snow Angels Canada website. While the program is not directly run by the City of Pembroke, the community’s support is vital. For questions or registration, residents can contact the City’s Operations Department at 613-735-6821 ext. 1409 or visit the Pembroke Public Library, either in person or by calling 613-732-8844.
The Snow Angels initiative is a great way for the community to support each other during the winter months, ensuring that everyone can stay safe and independent in their homes.
