On the morning of December 20, OPP officers visited a residence in the Town of Bancroft to retrieve medications for an individual who was already in police custody. While at the scene, police discovered a man who was wanted on outstanding charges. The male suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Mitchell Grimes, was arrested, and officers found several items on his person, including over $2,000 in Canadian currency and a variety of suspected illicit drugs. The drugs included 104 grams of suspected fentanyl, 11 grams of suspected cocaine, 11 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 16 grams of suspected heroin, and 17 pills of suspected oxycodone.
As a result of the investigation, Grimes faces multiple charges, including failure to comply with a release order, possession of proceeds of crime, and several counts of possession of controlled substances for trafficking. These charges involve fentanyl, heroin, methamphetamine, and opioids.
Grimes remains in police custody and is awaiting a bail hearing.
