The Liberal Party of Canada will select its next leader, and the country’s next prime minister, on March 9th. The date was confirmed by the party’s national council on Thursday after several meetings following Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s decision to step down.
Sources say the entry fee for potential candidates has been set at $350,000, a major increase from the $75,000 fee in the last leadership race. Candidates interested in running must declare by January 23rd.
The leadership race is expected to draw significant attention as the party prepares for a new era of leadership.
