Two individuals from the Township of Laurentian Valley (TLV) are facing Criminal Code charges following a family dispute on January 3. The incident occurred around 10:15 p.m., involving a physical altercation between family members. Police responded to the scene and found damage to furniture, but no serious injuries were reported.
During the investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized three improperly stored firearms. Although the firearms were not involved in the altercation, the 65-year-old TLV resident was charged with careless storage of a firearm. The accused will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.
Additionally, a 38-year-old TLV resident was arrested and charged with assault, mischief under $5000, and failure to comply with probation orders. The individual was held for a bail hearing and released with a future court appearance in Pembroke. The names of both accused are being withheld to protect the victim’s identity.
