On January 16, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment responded to a domestic dispute in Madawaska Valley Township (MVT). Police found that during the incident, threats were made, and an edged weapon along with an imitation firearm were used.
Upon arrival, officers arrested a 37-year-old individual found in a vehicle at the scene. They also seized a pellet pistol. Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported during the incident.
As a result of the investigation, the accused has been charged with several Criminal Code offences, including:
- Uttering threats to damage property
- Assault with a weapon
- Possession of an imitation weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
The individual was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on a future date.
The OPP continues to investigate and urges anyone with information related to the case to come forward.
