The Town of Petawawa is introducing internet and telephone voting for the 2026 municipal election. The decision was made by the Petawawa Town Council on January 20, under the Municipal Elections Act. This change will allow residents to vote from home without needing to attend a polling station in person.
While voters can still cast their ballots at the polling station located at Town Hall on Election Day, October 26, 2026, the new voting options will provide added convenience for those who prefer online or telephone voting. The Clerk will establish the procedures for these alternative voting methods and will also work with other municipalities to select a vendor to provide the electronic voting services.
The by-law was passed on January 20, and will take effect following its final approval. The new voting system is part of the town’s effort to make voting more accessible and efficient for residents in the upcoming election.
