At approximately 4:00 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the crash on Rapid Road in Whitewater Region Township. The vehicle had entered a ditch, and the driver, the only occupant, was uninjured. After the incident, the driver was arrested and taken to the detachment for testing.
As a result, John Adam Nelson has been charged with two offences under the Criminal Code:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration of 80mg or more
The driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. Nelson has been released and is scheduled to appear in court on February 24, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
The OPP continues to remind the public of the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of making safe choices on the road.
