The Renfrew County District School Board (RCDSB) is dedicated to providing accessible and flexible learning options for adult learners. Whether individuals are looking to complete their high school diploma, enhance their skills, or prepare for new career opportunities, RCDSB’s Adult & Continuing Education programs offer a variety of pathways to help meet these goals.
These programs are designed to accommodate adults who may be balancing work, family, or other commitments. RCDSB offers courses that allow learners to earn their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD), gain workplace experience through co-operative education, or participate in skills upgrading programs focused on literacy, numeracy, and digital skills. Additionally, the board offers career preparation courses to help learners develop job-ready skills and specialized language programs for eligible newcomers to improve their English.
For adults with prior education or work experience, the Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) process helps to award high school equivalency credits based on those life experiences. RCDSB ensures these programs are accessible to all, welcoming individuals from various backgrounds and life situations.
Scott Nichol, Superintendent at RCDSB, encourages adult learners to explore their options, stating, “You may be closer than you think to reaching your educational goals. Many adults don’t realize how much their past education or work experience can count toward earning their diploma or advancing their career.”
