The Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has issued formal warnings to three youths involved in multiple acts of mischief in Petawawa. The incidents occurred on November 17, 2024, when Christmas ornaments were damaged on Zachary Street, pumpkins were smashed on Renfrew Street, and cake was smeared on a car on Limestone Trail.
After an investigation, the youths were identified in late January 2025. In February, each youth was located and formally warned by the OPP. The parents of the youths have been notified, and restitution to the victims is being arranged. Due to the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), the names of the youths, who are all 14 years old, cannot be released.
The OPP continues to encourage residents to report any incidents of mischief or suspicious activity to help maintain safety and order in the community.
