New diagnostic imaging equipment will be arriving at the Deep River and District Hospital next month. Executive Director of the Deep River and District Hospital Foundation, Chris Doucette expects work to start in January and wrap up in March or April of next year.
Doucette made a presentation to Petawawa council at the beginning of November to provide an update on their progress and says so far, they’ve raised $1.3-million, putting them at 75% of their fundraising goal. He says the $1.75-million fundraising goal is to replace the x-ray machine, portable x-ray and machine it’s enclosed in.
Doucette adds the Chase the Ace Draw is one of their top fundraisers, with the last winner taking home over $220,000. He says they’re planning another lottery either before or shortly after the holiday season.
Doucette says over half (52%) of emergency room visits at the Deep River and District Hospital come from Pembroke, Laurentian Valley and Petawawa and the latter makes up the majority at 38%. Residents in Deep River, Laurentian Hills, Head Clara and Maria and parts of the Pontiac fill out the remaining visits at the hospital.
