Trial began this week for an Eganville man facing first degree murder charges. Jury selection was due to begin Monday at the Ottawa Courthouse for the trial of Zachary Wittke. Wittke was arrested following a collision in Arnprior on September 25th of 2017 that took the life of 65-year-old Sheila Welsh. The accused is facing charges of first degree murder, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, flight while pursued by police, driving while disqualified and theft of a motor vehicle.
