The Phoenix Centre will be able to offer e-walk in clinics thanks to a $50,000 grant from the RBC Foundation. The donation took place last night (Feb. 5th) as a part of a fundraiser at the Algonquin Cinemas in Pembroke. Executive Director of the Phoenix Centre for Children and Families, Greg Lubimiv, says residents in more remote areas in the county will be able to access counselling services.
Lubimiv says parents or children under the age of 17 who are dealing with behavioral or emotional issues will be able to either call in or video chat with a trained professional.
He adds walk-in clinics are currently available in Pembroke and Renfrew every week between 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm and every other week in Petawawa and Arnprior. The Executive Director of the Phoenix Centre expects the new e-walk in clinics to be rolled out sometime this summer or early in the fall.
She adds a local RBC employee, Bev McCormack, has been volunteering with the Phoenix Centre for the last eight years and they like to give back to organizations that staff members support. The bank representative encourages other community organizations to check out the RBC Community Social Impact section on their website for other potential grant opportunities.
