The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP says they responded to a medical assist call in the City of Pembroke this afternoon (May 15th). Police officers and County of Renfrew paramedics responded to a residence on Church Street near the intersection of Mary Street.
OPP Detachment Commander, Inspector Stephan Neufeld, says one person was taken to the Pembroke Regional Hospital, but he didn’t have the current status of the individual.
The OPP is reminding residents about good samaritan drug overdose act. This protects individuals who are worried about getting into trouble with the law because they may have drugs, are violating release or parole conditions. The good samaritan drug overdose act can protect you from certain charges if you experience or witness an overdose and call 911 for help.
The OPP says their ultimate goal is public safety and protection of life.
