The Pembroke Minor Hockey Association (PMHA) is opening registration this weekend (Sunday, August 16th).
The season will be different this year due to COVID-19. The PMHA is looking at a 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 structure.
Players will be grouped together and separated into bubbles. Each bubble can have up to 50 people and will include a maximum of four groups. The groups will be made up of 9 players, one goalie, a coach and trainer. Players will have to stay within their bubble and if restrictions change the PMHA may consider combining bubbles or decreasing their size.
There will be two tiers from U11 to U18. Tier one is competitive and tier two is house league. U7 and U9 will be the same as last year, but without a tiered system for U9. There’s no tryouts and players will be assigned to groupings based off their skill level the previous year.
If the season is cancelled before it begins there will be a full refund issued. If it’s cancelled while things are already underway there will be a partial refund.
The Pembroke Minor Hockey Association hopes to have two ice times of 50 minutes per week starting in October.
The league is adhering to public health guidelines as well as directives and procedures mandated by Hockey Canada and Hockey Eastern Ontario.
