A Thanksgiving dinner in Renfrew County is to blame for about a dozen COVID-19 cases.
Acting Medical Officer of Health for the Renfrew County and District Health Unit, Doctor Robert Cushman, says this shows how easily the virus can spread.
Cushman says at least 15 maybe 20 people attended the event and one of them had COVID-19.
Cushman understands everyone has COVID fatigue, but says there’s still disregard for public health guidelines and this is a perfect example where you see the virus spread at an event.
The information was first shared by CBC news and shows health officials are still tracing the outbreak from the Thanksgiving dinner in Renfrew County that resulted in about a dozen cases, making up about a tenth of all confirmed cases in the region.
Two teenagers also tested positive for COVID-19 linked to the gathering and about 70 students missed at least a week of classes.
