Troops from Garrison Petawawa will be deploying to Latvia in the New Year.
Commander of the 2nd Canadian Mechanized Brigade Group (2CMBG) Colonel Eric Landry says at any given time they have between 700 to 800 soldiers from Petawawa on missions overseas.
Colonel Landry says they have three main missions with roughly 500 people in Lativa, 200 in the Ukraine and another 100 spread out across Kuwait, Iraq and the Middle East.
Colonel Landry says soldiers with Bravo Company for 1 RCR will deploy to Latvia in January.
The 2CMBG Commander says they are in “high readiness” and will go back into training mode in the Fall of 2021.
The news was shared as part of the annual Garrison Petawawa Commanders’ Business Lunch on November 19th.
