The Town of Petawawa is looking at adding a Community Improvement Plan.
The idea was presented to council Monday night (November 23rd) as part of the draft economic development budget.
A Community Improvement Plan would provide incentives and grant opportunities to help revitalize the community, get more use out of underdeveloped properties and promote private investment in land and buildings.
Council is being asked to consider budgeting $140,000 to roll out the plan in 2021.
Economic Development Officer Christine Mitchell says $40,000 would be used to engage a consultant and $100,000 to support local grant opportunities.
Mitchell says the goal is to have the Community Improvement Plan in place in Petawawa by the Fall of next year.
Neighbouring Pembroke and Laurentian Valley already have community improvement plans in place and have added new streams for businesses to apply for funding to help offset COVID-19 related expenses.
